Ajarn Keng®‘s life is a testament to his unwavering passion for history and art.
Raised in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, it was at his local temple as a young child that Ajarn Keng®‘s talent was originally recognized by a high-ranking monk. Initially he allowed Ajarn Keng® to paint the temples with ornate Thai designs before he began training him, aged 10, in the technique of bamboo tattooing whilst also teaching him about the Buddhist Sak Yants. This led Ajarn Keng® to develop a deep connection to Buddhism and put him on the pathway to achieve the esteemed title of Ajarn Keng®. A master of both the traditional technique of bamboo tattooing and the spiritual side of the Thai Sak Yant tattoos.
Fate intervened when he moved to Koh Phi Phi in 2004 after the tsunami, leading to a love story with Lauren, whom he married in 2005 and the birth of The Bamboo Rooms.
